Historical Evolution Timeline
1. The Origin of Indian Coffee (1600s)
The foundational legacy of Indian coffee predates the board by centuries. In 1600 AD, a revered Sufi saint named Baba Budan smuggled seven seeds of 'Mocha' from Yemen to India. He planted them in the courtyard of his hermitage on the Chandragiri Hills in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. These hills, now known as the Baba Budan Giri hills, became the birthplace of the nation's coffee industry.
2. World War II and the Birth of the Board (1940–1942)
The outbreak of World War II completely sealed off traditional European export routes, leading to plummeting prices and massive surpluses of unsold stock. To prevent a complete collapse of the industry, the government passed the Coffee Market Expansion Ordinance in 1940, which was officially formalized into law as the Coffee Act of 1942. This established the Coffee Board of India.
5. Liberalization and Modern Role (1995–Present).
The Board's Current Mandate
Today, instead of acting as a direct trader, the Coffee Board of India functions as a facilitator, researcher, and quality regulator. Its core operations focus on:
"To consistently deliver the ultimate coffee experience to consumers through premium, expertly crafted blends, while simultaneously guaranteeing reasonable, stable, and rewarding prices to local coffee farmers to secure their livelihoods."
Core Pillars of the Mission
1. The Farmer-First Pillar (Socio-Economic)
2. The Consumer-First Pillar (Product Excellence)
Preserving Pure Integrity: To utilize advanced flavor-lock packaging technologies under strict government license, ensuring consumers receive unadulterated, premium beans free of artificial harshness
The Vision Statement
"To become India's most trusted, accessible, and high-quality institutional coffee brand, seamlessly bridging the gap between local growers and global coffee standards while fostering a transparent, sustainable agricultural ecosystem."
Strategic Objectives of the Vision

The Story of Aromatique Coffee: From Root to Cup, with Purpose.
For centuries, India’s rich soil has nurtured two distinct, world-class beverage legacies: the mist-covered, shade-grown coffee estates of the South, and the rolling, historic tea gardens of the Northeast. For generations, these two worlds flourished side by side, yet separate.
Then came a vision to unite them for a greater cause was born from a groundbreaking alliance between India’s premier coffee authority—the Coffee Board of India—and the legendary distribution and processing pioneers, the Assam Tea Corporation.
This is not just another coffee brand. It is a government-backed initiative with a profound dual mission: to protect the hands that harvest the crop, and to elevate the experience of those who drink it.
The Heartland: Honouring the Farmer.
Behind every single bean of Aromatique Coffee is a smallholder farmer working on the shaded slopes of India’s finest coffee tracts. For too long, these passionate growers have been vulnerable to volatile global markets and complex networks of exploitative middlemen.
Aromatique Coffee was launched to change the narrative. By establishing a direct, transparent supply chain, we cut out the intermediaries. This state-governed channel guarantees that our farmers receive fair, stable, and highly reasonable prices for their hard work. When you choose Aromatique, you are directly investing in the financial security and livelihoods of local farming families.
The Craft: Institutional Precision.
We believe that a coffee born from a noble cause should taste nothing short of extraordinary.
Every batch of Aromatique Coffee is curated under the strict quality benchmarks and scientific agronomy of the Coffee Board of India. Handpicked at peak ripeness, our premium beans are masterfully roasted to eliminate harsh, burnt bitterness, unlocking smooth, chocolatey undertones and an invigorating aroma.
To ensure this pristine quality reaches your kitchen undisturbed, the beans are safely brought to the state-of-the-art facilities of the Assam Tea Corporation. Packaged under an official license from the Coffee Board of India, our packs utilize advanced flavor-lock technology to seal in the delicate essential oils and fresh fragrance.
The Experience: Pure Perfection in Every Sip.
The Experience: Pure Perfection in Every Sip
